VERY COOL video of this father and son in new york who stuck a video camera and an iphone onto a giant helium balloon and let it take off into space, all the while recording the entire trip:

tugging at my heartstrings.  i gotta do something like that with my kiddo once he gets older…  too bad i’m a photographer and not a rocket scientist.

i’ve seen this kind of stuff done very well, and i’ve seen it done horribly. this falls under the former.

so i stumbled across this little trick with the iphone camera, where you can bend the photo a bit and make things wavy.  shoot under relatively dark-ish conditions (late afternoon, cloudy weather, dusk), wave the iphone left and right, then shoot a picture while continuing to wave the phone.:
